Restaurant Review: The Magnificat Cafe
When we first saw this little cafe we were immediately drawn to it. It is located at 231 N. Laura Street in downtown Jacksonville, right next to the library. They have a wonderful outdoor seating area that is shaded and offers you the opportunity to look out across Heming Park. For those that don’t like to sit outside don’t worry, they have plenty inside too.
When it came down to deciding what to eat I could hardly make up my mind. I ended up going with the special of the day, grilled chicken with provolone and their delicious bread. I could have honestly eaten a whole loaf of that bread alone. Each sandwich offered a different type of flavored maynoaise, such as tomato basil, , and their bread actually had fresh herbs and ingredients in it. As far as sides go they have the traditional pasta and potato salad, of which you get a very nice helping, and they also have several soups. On our trip my companion got the french onion soup and raved about it. They also had carrot ginger which sounded pretty wonderful but I just can’t seem to resist a potato salad so I went with that instead.
If you have the chance to go there for lunch one day, you really must! They are open 11am-230pm Monday through Friday.
Overall it was a great experience and a fun place to relax. This is why I’ve choosen The Magnificat Cafe for my first montly giveaway. Please see the monthly giveaway contest page for entry rules. The winner will recieve a $25 gift certificate.

I concur! They have a terrific menu selection and the food was excellent. Quick and friendly service, too!
